It was food truck Friday at our pool. We secured Carnivores at the last minute since we had to change dates.

They arrived early and setup in our parking lot. They opened up on time and started taking orders. The food was prepared in front of us and handed out after ordering. This proved to be efficient for those waiting in the long line.

Options included sandwiches and non-sandwich options, a few sides(but they ran out of mac and cheese early) as well as drinks.  On the plus side they accepted credit cards.

We ordered the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches. You have the option of adding their spicy slaw and we did. It was so good. They also offered a few side types and we chose spicy. The portions were huge. We probably should have shared a sandwich.  I had heard that my friends didn't really enjoy the chicken.

Good option for a Food Truck Friday.

I wanted to believe but was unfortunately sorely disappointed. Maybe I was over ambitious in ordering the two-meat chili mac and cheese. It was similarly over ambitious for my stomache. I couldn't taste much of the chili except a bothering thick, murky, tomato vinegar flavor that didn't go well with everything and didn't let me taste the meat. The brisket was mostly adhered in one clump to a thick piece of gristle, so I ended up forgoing most of it. The chicken and the mac and cheese were the rare, much needed respites from the intense chili and sauce, though I couldn't tell what they tasted like individually. I couldn't finish the dish, and it ran through my body almost immediately. I'd be curious to see what the meat is like when it's left bare, without all these extra fixins. Stay tuned for an update if I ever get that courage.

I had the opportunity to try this barbecue at my workplace today. To start off, I asked the cook, possibly the owner, if they had a sauce similar to Virginia BBQ sauce, which is sweet and tangy. Instead of giving me a simple yes or no, he mocked me, laughed, and said there's no such thing. Little does he know that Virginia is one of the birthplaces of BBQ, but I digress. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, since they ran out of mac and cheese. The meat was very dry and not flavorful. The only thing that was descent was the Memphis sauce itself. I have had far better at the apparently non-existent Virginia BBQ restaurants. It costs me $11 for one dry, inedible sandwich. Luckily, my coworker got a cheeseburger and fries from another food truck (which she got for the same price) and shared her fries with me. I recommend that he go to Virginia and take some tips. Definitely don't recommend this place. You can probably get something better for a cheaper price.

Easily the single worst food truck experience of my life. And I've been to hundreds in cities across the U.S.

Not only did a single brisket sandwich cost $15 with tax, it was also underwhelming in every way. We don't get BBQ food trucks at Farragut Park all that often, so I beelined it when I saw "BBQ" the door of the red Carnivore BBQ truck. That was my first mistake. Ordering and paying were my second and third.

The guy inside the truck grabs a beautiful, untouched brisket, puts it on a cutting board and instead of slicing into it like a normal person and neatly placing the slides on a bun with some sauce, he proceeds to obliterate the brisket with a meat cleaver. What I got was about the same consistency as ground beef and/or cauliflower rice. If he ran it through a wood chipper, it would have come out the same way.

If this truck was parked next to a dumpster around lunchtime, I'd rather hop in the dumpster and see what I could scrounge up for a meal instead of wasting money on the crap coming out of Carnivore BBQ's truck. Gross.

I can't speak for the food but their food truck driver needs to learn to drive safely. Almost running people off the road and riding six inches off of people's bumpers on my way to work this morning. All while smoking and throwing his cigarette butts out the window. Hope it's not the same person who prepares the food.
